Obituary

Luke Alexander Haseloff was born on August 6, 1973 to Charles Haseloff and Barbara Knight in New York City. Growing up in a family of artists in Soho and Little Italy, Luke excelled academically and later joked that he rebelled by going to business school. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School (’91), Stanford University (’95) and Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business (’06). Luke made friends wherever he went and built vast networks of professional and personal connections. In the wake of his unexpected passing, scores of friends and colleagues have remarked on Luke’s kindness, generosity, intelligence, sense of humor and, above all, his skill as a connector who derived true pleasure from bringing people together.

Luke traveled widely to Costa Rica, India, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand and throughout Europe, but he always called New York City home. There he met his wife, Nicole Cushman, in 2011, and together they built a relationship grounded in partnership, trust, respect, communication, passion and adventure. They were madly in love and fiercely proud of each other.

Luke made the world feel a little bit smaller and a little less lonely for a whole lot of people. He is survived by his wife Nicole, his mother Barbara and her partner Cris, his father Charles and his wife Peggy, and his loving stepsisters Vanessa and Paola Spina. Luke will be remembered by a stadium-sized group of friends and loved ones.
